Guided by ICF-certified, trauma-informed, and equity centered executive coaches, NADOHE's LEAD Coaching Circles are a confidential, peer-driven space to work through real challenges in real time alongside leaders at your career stage.

For Mid-Career & Aspiring Senior Leaders

Navigate the complex intersection of campus politics, operations, and culture. Mid-career managers occupy liminal spaces—managing up to cabinet leaders while leading down to operational teams. They translate vision into action, lead teams through uncertainty, respond to competing institutional demands, and handle cross-functional campus friction, all while navigating an increasingly challenging landscape for equity and inclusion work.

Developed by the Center for Liberated Leadership (C4LL) in partnership with NADOHE, the LEAD Nexus Coaching Circle offers a confidential coaching community for directors, associate and assistant vice presidents, associate and assistant deans, and other mid-career and aspiring senior leaders who are seeking not simply to survive complexity, but to lead through it with courage, clarity, and purpose.

Grounded in C4LL’s Liberated Leadership Framework and informed by trauma-responsive coaching, the coaching circle supports leaders at the nexus of complex systems, student needs, fiscal challenges and overloaded teams. It provides a much-needed space to reflect, reconnect with purpose, learn alongside trusted peers, and cultivate practices that allow leaders to remain effective without sacrificing their wellbeing or their values.

Participants will engage in conversations about:

  • Building strategic influence within changing institutions
  • Navigating campus politics with integrity and discernment
  • Managing up while developing thriving teams
  • Responding to resistance without losing purpose
  • Sustaining hope, boundaries, and wellbeing in demanding leadership roles
  • Building communities of courage rather than carrying leadership alone

Program Components

  • Six (6), 90-minute group coaching sessions
  • One (1), 50-minute one-on-one executive coaching session
  • Participant coaching materials and resources
  • Summary report highlighting participant outcomes, themes, and recommendations

Yvette Alex-Assensoh

Yvette M. Alex-Assensoh is an experienced leader and ICF-certified executive coach with over 30 years in U.S. higher education, including roles as faculty member, dean, lawyer, and vice president. She has led major initiatives that strengthened faculty retention, improved institutional climate, and advanced equity—such as Indiana University’s STEM learning community for women and the University of Oregon’s first climate survey. A former ACE Fellow and Fulbright Scholar, she is passionate about love-centered leadership and enjoys cooking, swimming, board games, Star Trek, and Christian fiction.
