"Challenges to Race in Higher Education Admissions: Understanding the Issues before the SCOTUS and Institutional Readiness"
Leading and influencing diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice issues in higher education requires senior diversity officers and diversity professionals work closely with institutions to assure strategic focus while also complying with the legal and regulatory requirements of the institution.
In this two-part webinar series, presenters will address critical issues associated with the U.S. Supreme Court’s upcoming consideration of SFFA v. Harvard and SFFA v. UNC cases, in which higher education’s ability to continue to consider race in admissions has been challenged.
PART ONE: Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, 1-2:30 p.m., EDT
Part One: Sets the stage regarding the issues before the Court. It will offer a primer on key concepts, fundamental legal principles, and prevalent myths regarding the consideration of race and ethnicity in admissions that advances the educational benefits of diversity.
PART TWO: Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, 11:30-1:00 p.m. EDT
Will address institutional readiness strategies associated with possible outcomes of the SFFA cases, with a particular focus beyond admissions—addressing the broad, institutional efforts that can and should be pursued in the coming months regarding institutional DEI.
