President's Message May 2025

Steadfast in our legal efforts

May 1, 2025

Dear Colleagues,

As we move further into 2025, NADOHE remains steadfast in our legal efforts with Democracy Forward and we stand in solidarity with our co-plaintiffs, AAUP, Restaurant Opportunities Centers (ROC) United, and the City of Baltimore/Mayor to challenge the lingering long-term effects of harmful policies enacted during the Trump administration. These policies have sought to diminish the values of equity and inclusion that are central to higher education and to the work we do every day. We will continue to support Democracy Forward’s work and appreciate everything that the membership has done to date. Your courage is inspiring. I hope you will take a minute to view the video “100 Days of Chaos, 100 Days of Courage,” and join NADOHE in thanking our Democracy Forward colleagues for their courage in fighting on our behalf and for democracy.

Over the past months, I’ve been heartened to see our message gaining visibility. From national media interviews to campus speaking engagements across the country, I have proudly represented NADOHE’s unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our presence and voice are more important now than ever, as you will see in the media coverage outlined below.

Looking ahead to the summer, our focus will turn toward a renewed push around membership and additional fundraising campaigns to support NADOHE’s important initiatives.

Thank you for standing with us.

Sincerely,
Paulette Granberry Russell, J.D.
