The National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education commends The William T. Grant Foundation and the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) on their partnership aimed at improving the use and effectiveness of research, particularly regarding youth. Effective policy formulation depends on research that is designed with practical use and meaningful impact in mind. NADOHE shares this goal and elevates such practical research in The Journal of Diversity in Higher Education.
Many of our members are scholars and practitioners who do work to expose inequities in marginalized communities and who use other scholars’ work to determine best practices. By prioritizing work that is useful and impactful, grant funders can advance the work of justice. Accountability by funders regarding individual and institutional diversity is crucial to ensuring long-term success in these aims.
